Onslow Community Outreach SMS (Text Messaging) Policy

Onslow Community Outreach and its programs (We) uses SMS (text messaging) to communicate with clients, volunteers, and supporters. This policy explains how we use your information, your rights, and the terms you agree to when opting in to receive text messages
from us.
By “Opting In” to or using a “Text Message Service” (as defined below) from Onslow Community Outreach, you accept these Terms & Conditions. Onslow Community Outreach will adhere to the provisions regarding privacy.
This agreement is between you and Onslow Community Outreach or one of its affiliates. All
references to “Onslow Community Outreach,” “we,” “our,” or “us” refers to Onslow Community Outreach, 1210 Hargett St, Jacksonville, NC 28540.
1. Information We Collect
When you sign up for SMS messages, we may collect:
- Your mobile phone number.
- Your name or contact information, if provided.
- Records of your communications with us.
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or personal information with third parties for
marketing purposes. We may share information about opportunities for assistance, volunteer
opportunities, and similar opportunities from other nonprofit organizations.
2. How We Use SMS Messaging
We send SMS messages to:
- Share updates about our programs and services.
- Notify clients about opportunities for assistance.
- Communicate with volunteers about events and needs.
- Respond to questions or requests.
3. Message Frequency and Cost
- The number of messages you receive will vary depending on program needs and
opportunities. - Message and data rates may apply. Check with your carrier for details.
- We are not responsible for charges billed by your carrier.
4. Your Choices
- To stop receiving messages, reply STOP at any time. You will receive a final confirmation
message. - To restart messages, reply START.

5. Security and Privacy
- We take reasonable steps to protect your information.
- However, SMS is not a fully secure communication method. We cannot guarantee the
confidentiality of sensitive information sent by text. - Your information will be handled according to this policy.
6. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to sign up.
- If you are under 18, you should have permission from a parent or guardian.
7. Carrier Disclaimer
Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
8. Limitation of Liability
We are not responsible for any delays, errors, or losses related to your participation in
our SMS program.
9. Updates to this Policy
We may change this policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on our website and
effective immediately upon posting.

11. Special Conditions for Onslow Christmas Cheer
For clients applying to the Onslow Christmas Cheer Program, operated by Onslow Community Outreach, we will use texting to communicate with you about your case. This includes informing you of acceptance and providing updates on our distribution schedule and appointment details. We will also use text messaging to receive information from you and to communicate about the status of your application for assistance.
We will store your information after each season to notify you of the upcoming season’s application opening. After a two-year period of inactivity, we will remove your information from our notification list.
Generally, Onslow Community Outreach will accept your voluntarily provided phone number to contact you about a program, service, volunteer opportunity, or other similar activity of Onslow Community Outreach or its partners that we believe may offer assistance or a service to you.
12. Special Conditions for Volunteers
At the discretion of Onslow Community Outreach, we will utilize text messaging to inform individuals who wish to volunteer about assignments, cancellations, and other relevant information that will aid us in providing assistance to our clients.
We will retain information from volunteers to inform you of other opportunities with Onslow Community Outreach or with partner program providers.
13. Costs Of Text Messages
We do not charge you for the messages you send and receive via this text message service. But message and data rates may apply, so depending on your plan with your wireless or other applicable provider, you may be charged by your carrier or other appropriate provider.
14. Frequency Of Text Messages
This Text Messaging Service is for conversational person-to-person communication between you and our employees. We may send you an initial message providing details about the service. After that, the number of text messages you receive will vary depending on how you use our
services and whether you take steps to generate more text messages from us (such as by sending a HELP request).
15. Opting Out Of Text Messages
If you no longer want to receive text messages, you may reply to any text message with STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE.
As a person-to-person communication service, opt-out requests are specific to each conversation between you and one of our employees, along with their associated phone number. After unsubscribing, we may send you confirmation of your opt-out via text message.
16. Consenting To Text Messaging
By consenting to receive text messages from us, you agree to these Text Messaging Terms and Conditions, as well as our Onslow Community Outreach SMS (Text Messaging) Service Privacy Policy incorporated herein by reference.
17. E-Sign Disclosure
By agreeing to receive text messages, you also consent to the use of an electronic record to document your agreement. You may withdraw your consent to the use of the electronic record by replying STOP.
18. Definitions
“Opting In,” “Opt In,” and “Opt-In,” refer to requesting, joining, agreeing to, enrolling in, signing up for, acknowledging, responding to, or otherwise consenting to receive one or more text messages.
“Text Message Service” includes any arrangement or situation in which we send one or more messages addressed to your mobile phone number, including text messages (such as SMS, MMS, or successor protocols or technologies).
